WELCOME 2018-2019 PHILLIPS ELEMENTARY WATCH D.O.G.S.!
It is with great pleasure to formally introduce myself as this years Phillips Elementary WatchD.O.G.S. Top DOG. I have the honor of being the father of two wonderful kids, Ace (5th) and Ladie (4th), who inspire me every day to be the best father I can be. With our seventh year underway, this brings new opportunities for us to be a part of inspiring Phillips students (not just our own) and continuing to be a positive father role model/mentor.
For those that are new to the program, WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative program of the National Center for Fathering focusing on improving education in our nation’s schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures. This is not only celebrated and nationally acclaimed, it is a part of our Phillips Elementary culture and in full partnership with our amazing school’s PTA Program and outstanding faculty.
For the 2018-2019 school year, there will be numerous opportunities to volunteer your time as a Phillips WatchD.O.G.S. that include at least one day of being present at the school to read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
Also, this year the Phillips WatchD.O.G.S. program wants to expand by being a large part in the Phillips Elementary mentorship program and adding much more volunteer opportunities to those that are interested. These opportunities will continue moving us forward in being a strong presence in both the national program but Phillips Elementary as well.
This website, along with the Phillips Elementary WatchD.O.G.S. Facebook page, will have updated information regarding volunteering opportunities and how to sign up.
I am looking forward to sharing the value of this program to new Phillips Elementary parents and returning ones that are ready to make a meaningful impact on the students of this great school.
